last night i painted over a large portrait of my husband. when i started it, i really liked it, but...there were several things i didn't like about it. one being that it was on a canvas that i had taken off the frame to restretch and it left indentations. secondly, it looked like a paint by number painting. it just wasn't my style. it looked very amateur and i just can't have that! it's my husband! so i painted over it. today i was feeling bad because i ruined it instead of working on it. so i decided to get out my sketch book and draw a bit. so far i have two done. one is of david and the other is of me. i used pictures from when we were on our honeymoon. the one of david really doesn't look anything like the picture. it looks like him about five years ago, but not now. the one of me isn't too bad considering i really have difficulties doing self portraits.
Reflect was inspired by the reflecting on our lives and how often we overlook the reflections we can actually see with our own eyes. Sometimes we look back on the past and are filled with a great satisfaction of accomplishments. Then there are other times that we just assume never happened. But if we look deeper into those precious memories, we realize that without all the trials of life, we wouldn't be able to appreciate what we have become.
Reflect was a commission that I accquired last month. Reflect I was part of a diptych and was given back to me yesterday. The client decided that one of the two paintings would be best. I'm happy to announce that it is now for sale at www.boundlessgallery.com and www.hometownartgallery.com . Don't miss out on this great opportunity. It's an awesome painting. For now, I'll be enjoying it!
i know it's been awhile since i've last posted. here's what I've been up to....playing! out of the blue, i decided that we should go snowshoeing. i've never been in my entire life and have no idea where the thought came from except the fact that we had our first good snow the day before. so we loaded up the dogs, rented some snowshoes and headed up on the mesa. it was awesome! we forgot our camera. luckily david's phone takes great pictures (for a phone). we all had a blast. I just LOVE snow!
